QUIET LIKE A SHEEP     …. JAN 4TH, 2015

Our high-up politicians sometimes look down from above,

They've been told that doctor-assisted-death is something they can't love,

Like recall or binding referendums -- words never spoken,

Media mogul silence on these two subjects is never broken.

You can ask your candidate what he/she thinks about this?

And in case he/she doesn't know; tell him/her about the Swiss,

Or the five US states or the province of Quebec that have it now,

Though this is serious stuff but there's no need to cause a row.

But it is a graphic illustration of what we need to change,

So that, If you are going to die in pain; you can rearrange,

But you wont read about this in the papers so go back to sleep,

And don't mention this poem and be quiet like a sheep.

Our political leaders should start to change things around,

Give us death-with-dignity and how does that sound?

We should also have recall and referendums for ourselves,

Added to the Charter -- not left on some political shelves.

 I'm sorry to have to tell you this but you are going to die,

Though you may not know the reason; the when, the where or the why

I will die too so we're both, more or less in the same boat

Politicians avoid this and doctor assisted death never gets a vote

Can our Canadian politicians get us out of debt?

We elected them, they say, so we deserve what we get

Will our taxes go through the roof again and again?

And death with dignity denied as though we stand in a drain.

Your hospital end-of-life treatment may not be one bit nice,

Especially if you don't die and have to come back twice,

And if you do die and you are not pleased, you can't complain,

It's as though your body and soul have gone down the drain.

And doctor assisted death is not allowed by the upper echelon,

Even if you go to court and have a long High Court session,

And we are not allowed referendums because they too are banned,

They will not allow death with dignity and they think this is grand.

None of this makes sense because no one knows what to do,

We are going to have an election soon so get in the queue,

But no one mentioned doctor assisted death so how will you vote?

Is it windy out there and does this feel like a slow rowing boat?

At least five or six US states have death with dignity now,

Though this might cause some religious folk to cause a row,

We are all headed in that direction because we will die,

Though many politicians won't talk about this and I don't know why.

And here in Canada, the reluctance is the same -- a silent row,

Some people just don't want to accept this idea -- not now,

Death is indeed a turbulent subject for many many folks,

The mere idea of death is inclined to provoke.

The greatest human freedom is to live and die without pain,

Or without interference from those on a political campaign,

So death with dignity could play a part of what we are allowed,

Instead of having to die in pain under a dark cloud.

Binding referendums and compulsory voting, would put us there,

But less than half of us vote and not interested in our affairs,

If we had medically assisted death we could avoid dying in pain,

Quebec has it already so they have no great reason to complain.

But we have appointed senators that stay till they're seventy five

No one knows why they were appointed of if they are still alive,

And we can't get rid of these senators unless they retire or die,

And no one knows for sure how this was arranged or why?

Recall would be good for many of our stupid pompous politicians,

So that we the people don't have to tolerate their dumb ambitions,

But where do we find the man or woman to rewrite our constitution?

We could be compared to environmentalists so worried about pollution?

If I read much more about our politicians, I may get sick,

They refuse to pass doctor-assisted-death, like a brick,

And they do it quietly and silently because its not mentioned,

In their wild attempts to have their stay in power lengthened.

They go to meetings here and there and discuss what they like,

But death with dignity is something they seem to hate and dislike,

And they want to make sure they keep their slight majority,

Then they can deny death with dignity by pushing their authority.

What can we do with these bought politicians from hell?

We have no recall while they delete emails In their own cartel,

Their hospital end-of-life treatment may be good enough now,

But not near as good as doctor assisted death they refuse to allow.

I'm trying to figure out, which group of politicians is worse?

Is it the Ottawa crowd or the Toronto crowd, that are the curse?

Which could give us doctor assisted death but they both refuse?

Is it all hidden under the carpet so as not to confuse?

Our upper echelon, with titles, oppose doctor assisted death,

As if they themselves will never die or be on their last breath,

And death-with-dignity is religious stuff so cannot change,

Our politicians seem confused and refuse to rearrange.

Is there a hidden religious guy somewhere giving them instructions?

Can't mention his name or any of the hidden obstructions,

Therefore death with dignity is never mentioned in the open,

Is all this secretive stuff, a good or a bad omen?
