Life is too precarious to let dense politicians rule,

Without doctor-assisted death, we begin to look like fools,

We cannot change, and binding referendums are also banned,

And the Trudeau Charter of Rights, cannot be changed or expand.



How to compel Canadian politicians to do what they should do?

Instead of appointing their friends to the Senate on cue?

We should write another Charter with binding referendums added on,

Get the Queen to sign it again, on the Parliament Hill lawn.



Why should this great idea cause such a terrible fuss?

And why is it hidden under the carpet and cannot be discussed?

Death with dignity should be for those of us who are really sick,

This is political heavy-duty stuff -- not something basic.

The Canadian health problem is that we can't choose to die,

Forbidden by the High Court and no one knows why,

So the politicians have swept it under the rug,

You can ask but you'll be lucky to even get a shrug.


This has been going on for many years in government silence,

The subject can't even be mentioned and there is no guidance,

Though five American states and maybe Quebec have it now,

Our government will still refuse to talk about it or even allow.


This web site maybe the only place to read about this,

Seldom mentioned that euthanasia is for sale by the Swiss,

But this national problem should bring forth one political leader,

Not eternal bureaucrats who are definitely not eager.

It should be the patients themselves and not the government to decide, And no need to have a legal or criminal issue implied, And why is it so difficult to get this issue changed for the people? Is it still the sound of bells from the village steeple? Incurably ill Canadians should have dignified deaths, Especially when they are close to taking their last breaths, And those in pain may want to avoid continued pain at any cost, When already their dignity and pride has been completely lost. Your hospital end-of-life treatment may not be one bit nice,

Especially if you don't die and have to come back twice,

And if you do die and you are not pleased, you can't complain,

The only good thing is; there is no more awful pain.

But indeed you may come to the conclusion that life is too short,

And you need a lot more political death-with-dignity support,

Because if you catch some awful painful terrible disease,

Doctor assisted death could be a way to die like a soft breeze.

Religious folk, judges and politicians, have strong feelings here,

Maybe they feel strongly that the judgement of god may be near,

Therefore death with dignity can't be discussed or allowed,

And nothing, absolutely nothing, will be said about this out loud.

The Americans still have the death penalty -- good for them,

And they're not afraid to use it on those whom are condemned,

Canada doesn’t have the death penalty -- not politically correct,

Appointed Senate not even worried about who we elect.

While some of our judges decide on a publication ban,

Reasons unknown, hidden from the public in a hierarchal plan,

And we don't have death-with-dignity because that too is banned,

We have no binding referendums so little can be planned.

We should plan for death before we die because afterwards we can't,

We can't change anything after that -- we can’t even recant,

So we should get doctor-assisted death by government decision,

This should be done with proper political supervision.

Why is there such opposition to doctor-assisted death?

Doctors who might assist us when we are on our last breath,

It doesn't make sense to me that we might all die in pain,

We should be able to plan our deaths in this campaign.

We are caught in the dilemma of hesitant politicians,

We need a leader in this issue who can change these conditions,

If Switzerland and five US states have it now; why can't we?

Quebec may have it now; we just have to wait and see.

The most important event in your life will be your death,

It's finished then -- there is no more -- and how important can that get?

Our politicians will not give us doctor-assisted-death; no matter what,

Whoever has them by the throat must think they are pretty hot.


You and I may die in terrible pain and the doctor can't assist,

Rules handed down from the Supreme Court and no one can resist,

It doesn't seem right that we can't have doctor assisted death,

As we lie there in agonizing pain and on our last breath.


While half the countries in Europe and five US States have it now,

Even the Province of Quebec will have it soon and without a row,

You can't read about this because it is kept very silent,

And no one, absolutely no one, will die while being defiant.
